Yellow journalism has become a common trend in Pakistani Media

In Pakistan, yellow journalism has become a common trend as the media organizations always try to create hype even to those matters that hold no importance at all. Media channels are spreading a feeling of disappointment among the general masses through
sensationalizing the petty issues.
In the present age, Media is considered as the fourth pillar of a state throughout the world. However, with this growing significance also comes greater responsibility on media.
The primary objective of media is to make people aware of the happening at national or international level while remaining impartial. But in Pakistan, media is being used by a few people for their personal gains on the cost of national interest.
Every news channel and newspaper has its own policies which are formed in accordance with the personal benefits. Some media organizations support one political party and the other support a different party. There are also some media organizations that always
support the ruling party.
Pakistani media is currently not playing its role in the true sense of journalism as almost every channel is supporting someone in order to fulfill some hidden agendas. In this pursuit, all media organizations in the country always try to create hype on a
matter which has no significance at all.
News channels and newspapers in Pakistan are not playing their role in the true sense as they create sensationalism which put a common man in disappointment and he starts thinking that there is nothing positive left in this country.
It is the responsibility of media that make people aware of happenings but at the same time media organizations should also avoid to promote sensationalism just to get more viewership and higher ratings.
Media should follow the true spirit of journalism and should remain impartial to every matter and also should present the true picture of issues without sensationalizing them.
Media is supposed to work in a neutral way which is its basic element. But, unfortunately, Pakistani media seems to play a partial role and also tries to create sensationalism just to get attention of people and for higher ratings among the competitors.

Turkish Drams have taken over Pakistani Industry?

Pakistan’s media that focuses on drama-serials is being observed to have been apprehensive of the growing rating of Turkish dramas in Pakistan.

This apprehension among the TV artists, directors, drama-writers and of course owners of TV channels is distinct. The recent drama serials Ishq-e-mamnoon and Aasi have earned prodigious response from local viewers and also have caused the failure of local dramas in Pakistan. However, the failure of local dramas and the high-rating of Turkish dramas are immediate subsequent to the advent of Turkish media imperialism in Pakistan.
Turkish dramas are deemed as focal point of debate in media since couple of months, it was observed that Pakistan’s media holding drama serials had been under high-pressure due to the incredible success of Turkish serials in Pakistan and it was also found depreciating the influx of secularism and decency of language and living standard of Turkey.
The people of Pakistan are divided in their nature of behavior according to their ethnic culture and its behavior therefore the liking of Turkish’s media stuff is resultant of it. Now the local viewers have been irked of Pakistan’s local drama serials because of lack of variation in serials/dramas that could possibly capture the incessant attention and enthusiasm of viewers.

The commercial media is subject of variability in terms of casting, designing, scripting, story-writing etc. the constant flow of similarity causes demise of local serials and also dramas, commercial media holders are pre-requisite to understand the technical tactics of running channels and to sustain their position at global level. However, the most of incumbent media persons are more business holders than of that media world.

They are not trained of technical matters pertaining to media hence the level of drama serials are more than drama-fiction and less than social message, it is also matter of appreciation to the old drama serials of Pakistan media during 1960s, 70s, and late 80s.

The quality of classical drama serials started to decline with the emergence of Islamism and fundamentalism majorly during Musharaf’s tenure. Moreover, there is no such qualified censor board of commercial media that could maintain the quality of drama-serials, sustain the moral values of society and furnish the meaning of obligation to law and order in society.

Turkish dramas are directed by highly qualified experts and also very polite and decent language is used in scripts showing the values of living standard in Turkey and we need to adapt the same level of writing and making drama serials.

The commercial and classical dramas are full of societal reflection. The characters, scripts, designing and theme are required to be set in terms of making social acquaintance; so the directors and drama-writers should refresh their minds in order to flourish the standard of society through their own beat of work in media.

Media's Role In The Elections' 2013

Positive aspects of media:

1 - Acknowledged People
2- Provided awareness over different political issues.
3- Useful talk shows before elections which supported people to find out what's better for their country.
4- Updated situations from different areas before and after elections.
5- Exposed different personalities on the basis of their past records.
6- Provided coverage of the jalsa's made by different party leaders throughout the country.

Negative aspects of media:

1 - Desperate reporting, news from a particular polling station was portrayed in a way as fire has overtaken         some place.
2- Unbiased media, media should be biased and must not supporting any party for any concern.
3- Exploited individuals.
4- Different channels didn't maintain their standard in order to air paid contents provided by different parties.
5- Rigging had been discussed so generally that whole country feels like something wrong has been happened to them. There should have been proper reasoning and mark that suggests that irregularities have been found in some xyz polling station, should be definite along with proof.
6- Image projection was not considered, media reflects not only to the people of the state but to other countries as well. I believe, their could have been some restrictions!

Pakistan's May 11 parliamentary elections

The election commission has received more than hundred complaints of irregularities and rigging on the day of parliamentary elections. The EU has
also monitored the irregularities in the vote. Pakistan's May 11 parliamentary elections had been nationally and internationally observed as landmark and historic, but still there have been a number of complaints of irregularities in the polls.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) party overruled the majority in the elections. PML-N defeated both the former ruling People's Party (PPP) as well as former cricketer Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the elections and claimed two-third of majority in the parliament.
Though the PPP has conceded defeat without any major complaints, PTI and other parties have obligated PML-N as responsible for the irregularities in the elections.

Earlier this week, Michael Gahler, the chief observer of the European Union's elections observation mission (EOM), confirmed "serious problems in polling."

Despite a campaign marred by violence and irregularities, EU observers praised the elections as a 'positive step for democracy.' Still, they urge the new government to press on with reforms.
